SPIC MACAY is a non-political, nationwide, youth, voluntary movement launched in 1977, that promotes cultural education and organises programmes of classical music and dance, folk, arts, crafts, yog, cinema classics, heritage walks, etc. in schools and colleges throughout the world to make young people more aware about Indian and world heritage.
Different aspects of Indian cultural art forms – tangible and intangible - have derived their roots from the abstract and subtle forms of meditation and yog. A tryst with these art forms enables the young minds to get inspired and imbibe the mysticism and the finest moral values that are a part of our great composite heritage. This also makes education more holistic and meaningful.
SPIC MACAY runs on the energy of volunteers who come from all walks of life - students, teachers, housewives, professionals and retired people. With the active support of volunteers and supporters, SPIC MACAY organises more than 5000 cultural events in a year, in 700 places across the country and abroad.
It is because of our selfless volunteers and their Nishkaam Sewa that SPIC MACAY has been able to move out of the peripheral limitations of the geographical boundaries and has been able to enlighten the world with the richness of the Indian culture.
Over the last 47 years SPIC MACAY has built up capacity and credibility to provide holistic and value education in an effective way. Our experience in this area has helped us become the leading organization in the country for promoting our ‘Intangible Heritage’ to the next generation – the generation that needs to inherit and preserve this heritage for the future.
